Exam notices can change between editions. This log documents 6 substantive comparisons across 5 title lines, with the old wording, the new wording and a link to each source. Check the exam number before using a change: a successor exam does not amend the previous exam.

A dated record, not an application calendar. Earlier rules and closed filing periods appear below so you can check what changed.

The most consequential change first, then by when each change was detected. This log was first published on .

  1. Police Officer — edition posted under 7313

The edition posted under 7313 raises the maximum age for appointment from under 35 to under 43, now measured on the date of filing, and cuts the military deduction from seven to six years.

The next School Safety Agent exam has its own filing and testing dates and a higher fingerprint screening fee.

  3. Police Officer — edition posted under 7314

The earlier exam’s notice, 7323, also ties an experience requirement to the last filing day. That sentence is absent from the notice for the successor exam, 7324, which keeps the education deadline. This deletion alone does not establish a new experience requirement or an exemption; check the full Education and Experience Requirements in the notice for your exam.[8][9]

  1. Check agency notice pages and scheduled successor numbers. The review checklist calls for a monthly check; this is a manually reviewed log, not a real-time alert service.
  2. Retain the exact PDF internally, record its retrieval date and fingerprint, and compare its extracted text with the prior archived edition.
  3. Review each changed passage in context. Classify requirements, fees, deadlines, testing and required documents as substantive. Keep useful wording clarifications separate; omit layout and typo-only changes.
  4. Publish short, contiguous quotations with page references and a stable link. Update an entry’s date only when its content changes.

The review scope is the 11 title lines in DutyRank’s exam registry. Only 5 currently have verified comparisons in this log. A missing entry does not mean a notice stayed unchanged. We include successor exams as a separate comparison type and do not infer why an agency changed its wording.

“Detected” is the earliest documented observation in our research. “Retrieved” identifies when a copy entered our archive. “PDF created” comes from document metadata and can predate an amendment. Neither is a reliable agency publication timestamp. A source check does not reset the page’s update date.

Each before/after quotation is checked against its own PDF extraction and limited to 30 words. Archived PDFs are retained for verification and are not republished here. Where an existing Wayback snapshot could be verified, it is linked; otherwise the original link and checksum are the available provenance.

Open the Atom feed or copy its address into a feed reader. It contains substantive changes only, with stable links to the comparisons. On first subscription, a reader may show historical entries together; their detection dates remain visible.

Each note links to the original publisher. Page and rule references help you find the evidence. Archive details identify the exact copy checked; archived documents are not republished here.

DutyRank. “NYC civil service exam notices: what changed between editions.” Updated 2026-10-19. https://dutyrank.com/civil-service/notice-changes

  1. Added the Police Communications Technician 7307 vs 6329 comparison; added two Police Officer 7313 rows (the removed too-young-at-list-end sentence and the new legal basis for the military deduction) with the age figures in its summary; named editions by the exam number they were posted under; listed the most consequential change first; showed both School Safety Agent education dates without inference; noted that the Conductor date has passed.

  2. Published verified comparisons for Police Officer, School Safety Agent, Conductor and Special Officer (NYC H+H), plus a substantive-change Atom feed.
